We will provide an update to the Bridging the Gap initiative and review targeted donations sought as part of the 2011-2012 Bridging the Gap initiative. Additional topics include a call for trustees, event chair persons and volunteers.

Attendance from swim team parents and supporters was very strong and we participated in several “photo ops”. It was a great night, filled with excitement and it was great for the Foundation to be a part of it.

Many thanks to Dr. Fitzpatrick for his creativity, dedication and continued support of the kids of our community and the UFREF – and of course, our great support from the BOE.

Starting this year, grant applications will be accepted ONLY in electronic format. Grant applicants are asked to submit their requests to ufref@yahoo.com, with all appropriate attachments and signatures, no later than Friday, April 8, 2011.

All applicants should utilize the Mini-Grant Application to submit Grant applications. See the Grants Page for more detail.

The Upper Freehold Regional Education Foundation elected to award all twelve grant requests submitted, in full or in part, totaling $8,704 to the school district’s elementary, middle and high schools. The total amount requested for all grants this cycle was $17,919.61.

We are in a once in a lifetime financial crisis which has pressured the School District to make some significant reductions and cuts in programs and activities that have been provided for in the past.

In continuing our highly successful “Bridging the Gap” initiative launched in September, the Ed Foundation has stepped up to the challenge to provide funding in full or in part to many of these innovative programs and projects.

UFREF provides students with educational opportunities they might not otherwise have.

As many of you know, we are gearing up for our 4th Annual Sno-Ball Softball Fundraising Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011, which helps us in our ongoing support the children of the Upper Freehold Regional School District.

Due to your time, support and generosity, since 2007 the Upper Freehold Regional Education Foundation has been able to award approximately $100,000 in grant requests submitted by the faculty and staff of the UFRSD, through targeted donations, and in connection with our recently launched “Bridging the Gap” initiative.
